I just spent all day trying to spin up a second pool.
No luck so far.   I have removed maintenance mode to allow users to withdraw funds if they want. I will have to either build a new server from scratch entirely or find another mining pool package - mpos, stratum mining and nomp all seem toe be abandoned projects.

    Thanks for your patience.

    Issue update
    posted 08/05/2020 15:30:27 by phoenixx

I have ran some additional checks, according to logs we were being hammered by worms or similar port scanning activity around the 29th but that alone should not have caused the issue.

I have also tried a backend switch to NOMP but the same issue persists.

Looks like the next option is attempting a second clean MPOS install on a clean SQL database.

    Thanks for your patience.

    Recurrent Pool Issue
    posted 01/05/2020 00:22:21 by phoenixx

I have had to halt the pool as the block ID issue has become recurrent.   Please stop any miners you may have running at the moment as we can no longer track blocks to miners at the moment. It appears to be some unknown MPOS bug.

If all else fails I may attempt generating a fresh secondary pool in another directory with a new database to see if the issue follows the new pool or not. I have as yet been unable to track the cause only the symptoms.

If you require funds to be manually triggered or have any other queries either post on the proboard or join the marscoin discord and message PhoenixX

    Thanks for you patience.

    Upgrade and Errors
    posted 30/04/2020 22:51:36 by phoenixx

Over the last few days I was forced to upgrade both the pool software and the kernel due to an issue that developed with MPOS stratum mining losing track of who hit what block.

This resulted in an unclaimed block balance of about 1400.

But on the up side of the upgrade you can now log in using SSL  encryption - which protects your password etc.  https://mars.our-game.net.

There is no way to be sure who is entitled to what amount of funds.  So instead of dividing up the 1400 between the active miners at the time, I will simply pay them all 1400 each to make up for the inconvenience.

    Power Outage - unscheduled
    posted 13/04/2020 10:15:01 by phoenixx

Due to our entirely inadequate power grid, administrated by an entirely incompetent government which thanks to the covid hysteria are now both understaffed the power companies thought it a convenient time to shut off the entire power grid to the local CBD as "non essential" this weekend - to do some "unscheduled" maintenance (read load shedding)

I can only wonder as to what sort of panic this caused at the local elderly care facility which is now even more understaffed than the government and power company.

Since our backup power can only cope with power outages up to an hour or two at best clearly it was not enough in this case.

    Backup Power supply Installed

After yet another power interruption I installed a heavy duty backup power supply that can run for several minutes without power

    Unscheduled power outage.
    posted 24/12/2019 12:13:58 by phoenixx

It appears there was a sneaky unscheduled power outage recently - which wouldnt have been an issue - but it occured in the wee hours of the night so nobody noticed until today. As a result the pool may have been offline for a day or so.

    IP Changed.
    posted 14/10/2019 10:26:29 by phoenixx

To Minimise mining downtime, make sure you are using mars.our-game.net   for your miners host address, as our IP was changed last friday and would have interrupted any miners.

    Marscoin forum created

Due to an issue with the contact form on this pool not working - I have created a forum here:

If you have any issues or simply questions.  Post on there, and I should eventually get to it.

    Marscoin Delisted from Polonex
    posted 05/06/2016 21:48:23 by phoenixx

Since Marscoin is not particularly active at the moment, (most Mars missions are not scheduled until 2017 to 2020) and there is not a lot of urgency in its trading, Poloniex has removed the marscoin market.  They have stated that once it becomes popular again, we are welcome to request that they list it again.

Geezup was the staff member who proposed its removal. Thanks for your patience Poloniex.

    Why use Marscoin?

    Is this coin a scam?
No they are registered under corporate law in Florida as a not-for-profit. It would be a criminal code violation to do anything illegal.

A summary of their corporate record is available here:

Marscoin's purpose is to facilitate a functional economic and research credit system for the coming Mars colony and research missions. Of which there are several!
For example, to allow universities to lease rovers on Mars, to reward research performed on Mars, and to allow Mars Colonists to sell/purchase/trade items on Earth.

Any sort of legitimate space type article to give it credibility?
    Heaps actually, eg. http://www.spacebulletin.co.uk/2014/08/marscoin-help-finance-mars-one-for-free.html

It has also been mentioned in interviews of Mars One finalists.
